CIVIL CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Program Information

A Chemical Civil Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional in the field of industrial process engineering, with the skills to work in the fields of chemical processes, productive processes, management, and projects, to contribute to the development of goods or services to improve people’s quality of life and the country’s development.

The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She is trained in basic sciences and engineering sciences, being able to design, operate, manage, and implement improvement opportunities; to technically and economically evaluate projects; and to incorporate quality and sustainability criteria.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.
The training allows the graduate to work in businesses or organizations in the public or private sector, or self-employed.

Occupational field

A Chemical Civil Engineer who graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of productive processes, projects, and management, mainly in the following economic sectors of Chile: food and beverages, energy, mining, oil and biomass refinery, cellulose and paper, plastic, textile and chemical industry (paints, polymers, natural products, etc.).

*Students who enrolled in the Civil Engineering Common Plan or any other Civil Engineering Program of UFRO in the admission process 2024 must complete all first-year subjects, without the option of subject recognition or validation, to ensure compliance with the new graduate profiles and updated curricula.

CIVIL ENGINEERING

Program Information

A Civil Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of structures and geotechnics, transportation and road infrastructure, water resources and hydraulics, as well as civil engineering project management, providing infrastructure solutions that contribute to the well-being of society.

One of the graduate’s main characteristics is the strong capacity for innovation and social responsibility in engineering design. He/She is trained in basic sciences and specialized in structural design and geotechnical analysis, road infrastructure provision, water resources quantification and allocation, and civil project management. This allows him/her to solve engineering problems by modeling, designing and planning civil engineering projects, based on scientific and technological advances.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.
The training allows the graduate to work in businesses or organizations of the public or private sector, or self-employed.

The basic and applied training allows the graduates to work in public or private businesses, as self-employed consultants or advisers in their professional field, to undertake business initiatives, to continue studies, and to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

CIVIL PHYSICS ENGINEERING

Program Information

A Civil Physics Engineer of the Universidad de La Frontera is a professional with the skills to work in the field of physics applied to engineering and project management, to solve production and service issues of varying complexity. The technological training also allows the graduate to contribute to the implementation and management of science-based projects.

The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She has a solid basic training in physics and mathematics. In addition, he/she has specialized training in material and energy modeling and simulation, as well as knowledge and skills in instrumentation design and development. This allows the graduate to generate solutions to complex problems; apply and adapt theoretical and experimental physics knowledge, methods, and techniques to materials research and development; implement techniques and instruments for the characterization of physical parameters, mainly in the fields of energy, mining, industry, environment, medicine, and metrology; as well as to formulate and manage engineering projects to develop new products.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.

The training allows the graduate to work in technology companies or scientific research centers of the public or private sector, or self-employed.

Occupational field

The basic and applied training qualifies the graduate to work in industrial, manufacturing, and service production companies in the public or private sector, to work self-employed as a consultant or advisor, to undertake business initiatives, or to continue studies, to contribute to the country´s economic and social development.

DENTISTRY

Program Information

A Dentist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, has a solid training in science and an adequate ethical and humanistic training that allows the graduate to work in dental health teams in the fields of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of prevalent pathologies of the stomatognathic system in individuals and the community.

This professional has the skills to be part of general health teams and to lead oral health teams.

The graduates of this program have a strong commitment to the community, especially in the fields of prevention regarding the stomatognathic system and health education for the community.

He/She has a solid and strong capacity of lifelong learning and, at the same time, an educational attitude regarding all his/her actions. The graduate is able to understand the behavior of individuals and the society, so that he/she can balance technical and human aspects within the ethical framework of work as an individual or in health teams.

Occupational field

A Dentist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional trained to work in public and private health systems. His/her professional training also qualifies him/her to teach and do research in his/her field of specialization.
