The Institute of Educational Computer Science is a multidisciplinary space with focus on research, development and innovation in the use and evaluation of digital technology and consulting in education public policies. It is characterized by adding value to research and innovation through a cycle of innovation, testing, application and transfer to the system.
For more than 20 years, the institute played a key role in the design and implementation of ICT policy in education in Chile and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Its activities include projects and services for different government agencies, such as CONICYT (Fondef, Fondecyt), the Education Quality Agency and the Ministry of Education, as well as international organizations, such as UNESCO. Through the Chilean Center of Improvement, Experimentation and Pedagogical Research (CPEIP), the Institute of Educational Computer Science trains about 3 thousand teachers from different regions of Chile.
It also develops educational software, computer systems and other services, in order to support teaching and learning processes by acting directly in educational establishments in the south of Chile. Its scholars actively participate in postgraduate teaching and regularly publish in indexed journals.
