Program Information
A Civil Telematics Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of information and communication technologies, electronics, and project management.
The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She is trained in basic sciences and engineering sciences, and specialized in data networks, software development, electronics, peripheral computing, IoT, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and project management. This knowledge enables the graduate to design electronic circuits based on commercial programmable modules; to implement, maintain, and update computer and telecommunications systems; and to design engineering projects related to telecommunications and information technology.
The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.
The training allows the graduate to work in businesses or organizations of the public or private sector, or self-employed.
Occupational field
A Civil Telematics Engineer can work:
• In telecommunication companies, system integration and internet services;
• Regional, national or foreign productive companies or service institutions in the private or public sector;
• Consultancy and service companies;
• Self-employed, as an independent entrepreneur in the field of design and implementation of data networks, services, internet, software development, integration of digital communication systems, as a consultant and service provider, or as a contractor;
• In telecommunication services and equipment companies, data transmission, and other digital communication systems.
*Students who enrolled in the Civil Engineering Common Plan or any other Civil Engineering Program of UFRO in the admission process 2024 must complete all first-year subjects, without the option of subject recognition or validation, to ensure compliance with the new graduate profiles and updated curricula.
